Hubig’s Sky, oil on canvas, 40″ x 30″

If you grew up in New Orleans, you probably have fond memories of enjoying tasty Hubig’s Pies made by Simon the Pieman and miss them like I do. Hubig’s Sky is a view of the lot on Dauphine Street where the Hubig Pie Factory stood until 2012.

Artwork description ...

Hubig’s Sky is my tribute to a favorite New Orleans memory: Hubig’s Pies. The painting is a nighttime view of the lot in the Marigny that Hubig’s Pies occupied before it burned in 2012. There are now condos on this lot, so this painting references how it looked before the condos were built.

With the fire passed a New Orleans institution. I hope Hubig’s comes back soon.
